The first All-State Band was held in 1951. The event was held in Sioux Falls.

When was the South Dakota High School Athletic Association organized?

The association was organized in 1905 to coordinated inter-school athletics. The first event sponsored by the new organization was the State Track Meet of 1906. Sioux Falls won the first State Track Meet.

When was the first State Debate Championship held?

The first debate was held in 1915. The championship was won by Sioux Falls.

When was the first official State Basketball Tournament held?

The first sponsored tournament was held in 1917. Huron scored 23 points and Aberdeen scored 22 in the championship game. There were 29 teams at the tournament.

Was the hammer throwing event ever part of a State Track Meet?

Yes, the hammer throw was eliminated in 1920 as an event in the State Track Meet.

Who was the all time leading girls’ basketball scorer in South Dakota?

Becky Flynn of Wakonda scored 3,268 points for Wakonda High School.

How many episodes of Dakota Pathways will be produced?

SDPB TV is planning on producing (20) fourteen-minute episodes.

How long can I legally use a Dakota Pathway show after I have taped it?

All of the Dakota Pathways episodes are produced by SDPB. You have unlimited educational rights to use these programs. So enjoy them for years. Note: Some of the shows we air are not produced by SDPB and only have rights for a year. Please email EdServices@sdpb.org  if you have questions about other shows.

When are the Dakota Pathways shows aired on SDPB?

Throughout the school year Dakota Pathways will air on Mondays and Fridays from 2:15pm – 2:30pm CT. Also, we air Dakota Pathways during the overnight schedule. The overnight schedule can be accessed on the Internet at http://www.sdpb.org/ , in our monthly SDPB Magazine, or in our weekly education newsletter. What age group is Dakota Pathways designed for?
